United States World Juniors roster 2022: Full list of players, NHL prospects announced for Team U.S.A.



Team USA has officially announced a full roster for the 2022 World Juniors Championships, a year after snatching its fifth gold medal during last year’s contest.

The team announced its final roster on Tuesday, just a few weeks before the first puck drop is scheduled. The United States will look to earn back-to-back gold medals as it prepares to face the Czech-Republic in the opening matchup on Sunday, Dec. 26.

Luke Hughes (the second overall pick of the 2021 NHL Draft) is expected to dominate in the United States’ offense. Like his brothers Jake and Quinn, he will compete for his country before he makes his NHL Debut with the New Jersey Devils.

Three top-10 picks in the 2021 NHL Draft, including second overall pick Matthew Beniers, fourth overall pick Luke Hughes and fifth overall pick Jake Sanderson, were among several players chosen to represent the United States in this year’s World Juniors.

When do World Junior Championships 2022 start?

  • Venue: Rogers Place (Edmonton, Alta.) and Peavey Mart Centrium (Red Deer, Alta.)

This year’s World Junior Championships start right after Christmas, Dec. 26, also known as Boxing Day in Canada. The tournament will run for 11 days and extend into the first week of 2022. It will be held at two venues in Alberta: Rogers Place in Edmonton, home of the NHL’s Oilers and WHL’s Oil Kings, and Peaver Mart Centrium in Red Deer, home of the WHL’s Red Deer Rebels.
